European Health Insurance Card
If you are a member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme and are staying temporarily in another EEA country or in Switzerland, you should carry a European Health Insurance Card.

The card proves that you are entitled to necessary healthcare in the same way as nationals of the country you are visiting.
The European Health Insurance Card is a plastic card the size of an ordinary credit card.

By showing your European Health Insurance Card to the medical practitioner, you will be entitled to necessary medical treatment in the country you are in, just like nationals of that country.

If you are resident in Norway, you can order a European Health Insurance Card at Helfo.no, by SMS or by calling HELFO’s service line.

It may take up to 10 days from ordering your European Health Insurance Card from HELFO for it to arrive in the mail.
